ASTM International has released a 3rd Edition to Manual 26 – “Sensory Testing Methods”. Mona Wolf, Editor, assembled a team of experts to edit this popular document.
The publication “gives the reader a general knowledge of sensory evaluation methods. It provides a base of practical techniques and the controls that are necessary to conduct simple sensory studies.”
St. Croix Sensory Lab Director, Michael McGinley, worked with industry expert B. Thomas Carr to update Chapter 4, “Threshold Methods”. This chapter includes important updates to the content originally authored by Mr. Carr and Dr. Morten Meilgaard. Detailed information provided in this chapter includes: defining thresholds types, techniques for determination of thresholds, and statistical calculation methods.
“I was honored to edit this chapter with Tom Carr which he originally wrote with industry icon, Morten Meilgaard”
~Mike McGinley
Other chapters in the book cover discrimination methods, scaling techniques, descriptive analysis, and affective testing.
This 3rd edition manual will continue to be a popular publication of the ASTM E18 Sensory Evaluation committee.
