St. Croix Sensory Sponsors Johns Hopkins Alumni Gathering at AIHA Conference

St. Croix Sensory was proud to sponsor the Johns Hopkins University Occupational & Environmental Hygiene alumni reception held at the Local Irish Pub in Minneapolis on May 21st during the American Industrial Hygiene Association annual conference.

Our laboratory director, Michael McGinley, is a graduate of the Master of Health Science program in the Department of Environmental Health Engineering program at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.  At this fun filled evening, participants celebrated the career of Dr. Peter Lees, who will be retiring at the end of June after almost 40 years with the OEH program.  Dr. Lees plans to work with the program as a professor emeritus and his legacy will continue with the talented and dedicated professionals that he trained over the course of his long career.

“I was excited for the opportunity to sponsor this evening in a favorite venue in our Twin Cities home.  It was great to catch up with many colleagues from my days in Baltimore.  Dr. Lees was my advisor during my graduate work and has always been a valuable mentor to me and his many other students.”

In addition to hosting the reception, Michael McGinley also made a technical presentation titled “Odors in Toxicological Assessments” at the American Industrial Hygiene Association annual conference, with colleague Lisa Corey, Intertox Inc., and fellow Hopkins alum Jennifer Shin, Exxon Mobil.

Later in the week, St. Croix Sensory also hosted a technical tour of our sensory laboratory to a group of 40 AIH visitors.
