ASTM Workshop on Sensory and Consumer Research for Products Containing Cannabis

As the legalization of cannabis continues across the globe, questions regarding opportunities and challenges related to this growing market abound. Understanding the connection between the cannabis product and the consumer is a unique challenge in the world of sensory and consumer research.

St. Croix Sensory President Michael McGinley will be taking part in a workshop tackling these questions at the January 2024 ASTM Committee Meeting in Louisville, KY. On Sunday, January 21st, Michael will participate in the “Workshop on Sensory and Consumer Research for Products Containing Cannabis” panel.

Michael will lead the discussion on the current E18 standards used in odor control and malodor reduction, evaluation of cannabis products under different packaging conditions, and the expanding applications of cannabis related products into markets such as air care and fabric care. Additional panel members will explore considerations for sensory testing in product development and quality control, qualitative and quantitative consumer research, and regulatory parameters for cannabis products.

The workshop has been organized by ASTM Committee D37 on Cannabis in cooperation with ASTM Committee E18 on Sensory Evaluation. Registration information can be found here.
